Week 14 (Nov. 17 - Nov. 21)

On Monday, students in Period 3 began to study Chapter 8 (Basic Concepts of Chemical Bonding). On Tuesday and Wednesday, students in Periods 2 and 3 continued to learn about ionic and covalent bonding in Chapter 8, including Lewis electron-dot structures. On Thursday and Friday, students worked on a packet for Chapter 9 (Molecular Geometry and Bonding Theories).

Homework for Periods 2 and 3: Finish the Chapter 8 assignment on Mastering Chemistry and finish the Chapter 9 packet.

On Tuesday, students in Period 4 finished up a quiz on Electron Configurations and began to explore the periodic table. On Thursday, students in Period 4 worked on their Periodic Table packet.

Homework for Period 4: During out next class we will finish the Periodic Table packet and look at a demonstration regarding the reactivity of three different metals.

On Monday, students in Periods 5 and 7 worked on their Periodic Table packet. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students in Periods 5, 7, and 8 finished up the Periodic Table packet and viewed a demonstration on the reactivity of three different metals. On Thursday and Friday, students in Periods 5, 7, and 8 took a quiz on the periodic table.

Homework for Periods 5, 7, and 8: No homework. I will introduce concepts related to Chemical Bonding and Nomenclature during our next class.
