Week 10 (Oct. 20 - Oct. 23)

On Monday and Tuesday, students in Periods 2 and 3 reviewed for a Chapter 5 Test. On Wednesday and Thursday, students in Periods 2 and 3 took a test on Chapter 5.

Homework for Periods 2 & 3:  Read Chapter 6 (Electronic Structure of Atoms).

On Monday and Tuesday, students in Periods 5, 7, and 8 studied the development of atomic theory. On Wednesday and Thursday, students in Periods 5, 7, and 8 learned about the properties of protons, electrons, and neutrons.

Homework for Periods 5, 7 & 8:
No homework. We will continue exploring the properties of atoms on Monday and Tuesday.

 

On Monday, students in Period 4 started a quiz on molarity calculations. On Wednesday, students in Period 4 finished the molarity quiz.

Homework for Period 4:  No homework. We are starting a new unit on Monday on atomic theory.

Week 9 (Oct. 13 - Oct. 17)

On Monday, students in Period 3 began studying the first part of Chapter 5 (Thermochemistry). On Tuesday and Wednesday, students in Periods 2 & 3 studied enthalpy and calorimetry. On Thursday and Friday, students in Periods 2 & 3 studied Hess's Law and Standard Molar Enthalpies of Formation. 
 
Homework for Periods 2 & 3: 
Do the Mastering Chemistry assignment which is due on Monday. Work on the Chapter 5 Practice Test.

On Monday, students in Periods 5 & 7 took a quiz on stoichiometry calculations.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, students in Periods 5, 7 & 8 reviewed for a quiz on molarity calculations. On Thursday and Friday, students in Periods 5, 7 & 8 took a quiz on molarity calculations.

Homework for Periods 5, 7 & 8:
No homework. We are starting a new unit on Monday and Tuesday.

Week 8 (Oct. 6 - Oct. 10)

On Monday and Tuesday, students in Periods 2 & 3 took a test on Chapter 4. On Wednesday and Thursday, students began studying the first part of Chapter 5 (Thermochemistry). Click here to see the Chapter 5 packet that covers Sections 5.1 through 5.5.

Homework for Periods 2 & 3:

On Monday, students in Period 4 took a quiz on balancing equations and classifying reactions. On Wednesday, they did a lab entitled "Exploring Chemical Reactions." On Friday, they learned about stoichiometry, limiting reactants, theoretical yield, and percent yield. They also did a lab entitled "Calculating Percent Yield"

Homework for Period 4: 
Finish the Analysis Questions for the lab, and study for a Quiz on Tuesday on stoichiometry calculations.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, students in Periods 2 & 3 finished up the titration lab.
