Week 16 (Dec. 1 - Dec. 5)
On
Monday and Tuesday, students in Periods 2 and 3 took a test on Chapters 8 and 9. On Wednesday and Thursday students in Periods 2 and 3 began to study Chapter 10 (Gases). On Friday, students in Period 2 continued to explore concepts in Chapter 10.
Homework for Periods 2 and 3: Work through the Chapter 10 packet. Your Mastering Chemistry assignment should be posted soon.
On Monday, students in Period 4 took a quiz on the periodic table. On Wednesday, students in Period 4 began to explore concepts related to chemical bonding. On Friday, students in Period 4 explored chemical names and chemical formulas for ionic compounds, including those containing polyatomic ions.
Homework for Period 4: We will be exploring the process of writing Lewis electron-dot structures during our next class. Do as much of the Chemical Bonding packet as you can. E-mail me if you have any questions about it.
On Monday and Tuesday, students in Periods 5, 7, and 8 explored chemical names and chemical formulas for ionic compounds, including those containing polyatomic ions. On Wednesday and Thursday, students in Periods 5, 7, and 8 practiced writing Lewis electron-dot structures for various molecules and ions. On Friday, students in Period 8 explored Lewis structures, structural isomers, formal charge, and molecular geometry (including the VSEPR model).
Homework for Periods 5, 7, and 8: Work on the handout that was given to you at the end of class. E-mail me if you have any questions about it.
